Oh, no, did it break?! Thinking about trashing it?
How about mending it instead?
Bring your broken household items to the Repair Fair and one of our volunteer “fixers” will try to help you repair them. We can’t guarantee that everything will be repaired but you will get to learn more from an expert fixer and meet other people interested in keeping their things in their lives and out of the landfill.
The Repair Fair is more than just a way to fix your items. While you are here you can:
- Grab a beer or food from HighGrain Brewing
- Attend a fixit workshop.
- Keep trash out of the landfill with the Cincinnati Reuse and Recycling Hub.
- Get to know organizations in our region that are working hard to help us all be greener.
Things that can be fixed:
- Bikes
- Wooden Items/Small Furniture
- Simple Electronics
- Sewing/Fabric
- House Plants
- Jewelry
- Tools and Tool Sharpening
Things NOT TO BRING:
- MIcrowaves
- Any appliance or electronic bigger than a toaster oven
- TV’s
- Computers
Why Register?
When you register you give our fixers a heads up on your repair. The fixers can look up necessary info as well as bring the right tools and materials.
Fix It Workshops
Learn some simple techniques to keep your stuff working great!
Garden Tool Selection and Upkeep 1:30 - 2:00 pm
Tool Sharpening fixer, Lynn Sullivan will give you an overview of basic hand tools that anyone wanting to garden should have. What to look for when purchasing and how to take care of them so they last a long time.
House Plant Care 2:15 - 2:45 pm
Brittany Hale from Fleurish Grounds, will help us know what to do with our troubled house plants. We’ll first learn how to identify if a plant is salvageable. Once we know whether or not the plant can be saved we will be talking about the different ways the plant can be saved/propagated and how to reuse the remains.
ABC Bike Quick Check 3:00 - 3:30 pm
MOBO Bike COOP will teach the simple system to make sure all components of your bike are in good working order before you head out to ride, plus some basic adjustments you can make to get them back in order. We’ll also cover a little biomechanics and how to adjust your bike for the commies, most efficient fit.
Collection Event
The Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub will help keep your broken electronics out of the landfill!
The Hub will be present at this event to accept your unfixable electronics (smaller than a toaster oven).
Items accepted for recycling include: batteries, chargers/cables/cords, cellphones, tablets, blenders, CD and DVD players, hair dryer, curling iron, computer speakers, headphones, alarm clocks, remotes, irons, toaster oven, video game equipment, and other small electronics.
The Hub accepts many more items than what will be accepted at the Repair Fair. If you have items at home that you would like to recycle, we encourage you to recycle with them directly. Please visit our website for more information, www.
Collaborative Art
Make a cool art piece with upcycled materials.
To honor our repair fair host, we will be working on a collaborative art piece at the event. The piece will feature the HighGrain theme and be constructed with materials from the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub. Stop by and help us create something new from something old!
