Scott Russell Sanders is a novelist, essayist and professor. He is the author of more than twenty books of fiction and nonfiction, including Hunting for Hope, A Conservationist Manifesto, and A Private History of Awe. He is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of English at Indiana University, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In his books he is concerned with our place in nature, the practice of community, the relationship between culture and geography, and the search for a spiritual path. He and his wife, Ruth, a biochemist, make their home in the hardwood hill country of southern Indiana.
