DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Annual Repair Fair\, celebrating item repair and restoration! \nSaturday\, May 9\, 2026 10:00am-2:00pm\nDowntown Library 800 Vine St\, Cincinnati\, OH 45202 \nThis community-centered event is a partnership between Hamilton County ReSource\, The Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub\, Imago\, The Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library\, and The City of Cincinnati. \nAt the Repair Fair\, you’ll find friendly volunteer fixers\, who can look at your broken item and will make best attempts to fix the item\, or make best recommendations for what parts may need replaced if parts are not readily available. \nItem repair allows items that still hold value to remain in use for as long as possible. Often items that break only require simple fixes to allow them to continue functioning for years to come. Continuing to use an older item instead of buying new allows you to hold on to sentimental pieces\, save money\, and preserve resources that may otherwise go to the landfill. At the Repair Fair\, you can not only have your item reviewed\, but you can learn how fixers may troubleshoot an item\, and learn some simple fixes to take home and use on items in the future. At this event you can also learn more about what organizations around Hamilton County are doing to repair more and throw away less. \nThere will be no item pre-registration for 2026\, and items will be reviewed on a first-come\, first-served basis. DESCRIPTION:Black Friday? More like\, plaid Friday. Once again we’ll thumb our nose at wanton consumerism by moving our bodies in our beautiful city. Each year we pick a great urban route and head out together to explore\, be in community\, and enjoy the late fall weather. There are two routes to choose from – a morning easier route\, and an afternoon advanced route. \nHike 1: The Beautiful River Route 9:30am – 12:00pm. This is a favorite traditional route. We’ll hike along the Ohio River exploring Sawyer Point\, Serpentine Wall\, and northern Kentucky. We’ll cross three bridges and two rivers in this flat and gentle walk. \nThis route is appropriate for strollers. Approximately 4 miles \nHike 2: Steps and Views. 1:00pm – 3:30pm. This route will feature the Clifton hills just north of Over-The-Rhine. Hikers will climb the daunting Main Street steps\, wind through little known parks\, and one of the best views in the city\, before taking steps down to Over-the-Rhine and our starting point. \nThis route is NOT recommended for stollers. This route contains one significant climb. Approximately 3.5 miles.

DESCRIPTION:The birds show the way. Annual bird counts at Highlands Nature Sanctuary/Arc of Appalachia in SE Ohio\, indicated to avid birders that about 35 species migrate from the cloud forests of Guatemala to/or through the Sanctuary to breed. In 2024\, the Arc director connected with the Community Cloud Forest Conservation (CCFC) organization in Alta VeraPaz\, Guatemala to celebrate this connection and consider becoming sister organizations. A second trip in 1/25 with a dozen Arc members revealed that much more than birds connect us. Up close and personal connections with the plants\, critters and people on the land reveal some surprises in this small Caribbean country that some of our neighbors in Cincinnati come from. If you are a fan of bird watching\, wilderness hiking\, caving or growing and eating good food\, you’ll enjoy this look into how these things influence another culture.

You can use this time (or afterwards) to see Marcy’s amazing art piece. \nAbout Marcy’s art piece\, “In the Middle of Everything” \nMarcy is the recipient of the 2025 Vance Wadell residency program at the Wave Pool gallery. \nDeep within the heart of the forest\, ancient and magical creatures dwell. Towering\, timeworn trees have long been home to countless living beings—animals\, insects\, and\, as whispered in folklore\, ethereal beings such as fairies. Together\, they safeguard the trees\, illuminating them with colors\, symbols and patterns unseen by the human eye. Yet\, for those who pause\, who take the time to truly observe\, listen\, and feel\, the unseen magic may begin to reveal itself.  \n‘In the Middle of Everything’ is an in situ installation\, conceived specifically for the site of Imago\, nestled within a preserved natural sanctuary. This project serves as a reminder of the beauty and fragility of forests—an invitation to recognize them as vital\, living ecosystems that demand\nour care and respect. In return\, nature\, with its unseen guardians\, might reward us in the most unexpected and wondrous ways. \nFor when we stand among these enchanted trees\, we find ourselves in the middle of everything.
